Dr. Rebecca Verna
Optometrist
Dr. Rebecca Verna is an Optometric Physician specializing in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Diseases and Contact Lens Fitting here in Northeast Philadelphia. Dr. Verna is a 2002 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She has her Undergraduate Degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her skills as a primary care eye clinician, Dr. Verna is committed to having state of the art equipment and technology available to all patients. She has a passion for helping children see well and started our Myopia Management Clinic in 2021. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Jason, and their adorable dog Cooper.
Jason
Practice Manager / Optician
A board-certified optician, Jason brings a wealth of experience from multiple industries, but is now focused on eye care and improving the overall patient experience here at Modern Optometry. Outside the office, Jason enjoys competitive bowling and escape rooms. He and his wife (Dr. Verna) are parents to their adorable dog Cooper.
Amanda
Optician
Amanda has been one of our opticians since 2022, but brings with her a lot of experience in the field. She lives in New Jersey with her husband Jimmy, dog Shorty and daughter Luna. When she’s not chasing her toddler around, she enjoys catching a good meal and drinks, or maybe a sporting event with some friends. Amanda loves the city and its community and is excited to help our patients gain a new perspective and more confidence in their vision.
Jannel
Optician
Jannel is new to our office, joining us as an optician in May 2023. She is a health & wellness coach and has lost over 70 lbs during her journey! Jannel starts her days by working out at 5am and joining a personal development call at 7am, ensuring she starts her day off powerfully. Jannel also enjoys reading, listening to music, crocheting in the winter time (she’s made her own throw pillows!) Jannel has one son (Javon) and four pets: a dog (Ryu), a cat (Luna), a gecko (Po) and a half-moon betta (Jade). Her favorite quote is “Speak what you seek until you see what you said.”
JD
Optician
JD is one of our newest hires, but comes in with a decade of experience in the field. In his free time, he likes to go bowling and he also trains in jiujitsu. His other hobbies include going out for a ride on his motorcycle during the day and gaming on his computer at night. You might run into him if you go out on night market, because he is also a big foodie!
Kait
Welcome Desk
Kait has been with our office since 2021 but had been helping patients for quite some time prior to joining us. When she’s not busy keeping our office moving efficiently, Kait enjoys happy hours, watching movies and drinking coffee. Kait also likes to attend concerts, usually country music. If you’re down the shore, you just might run into her, as she loves the beach!
