Our Family

Dr. Rebecca Verna is an Optometric Physician specializing in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Diseases and Contact Lens Fitting here in Northeast Philadelphia. Dr. Verna is a 2002 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She has her Undergraduate Degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her skills as a primary care eye clinician, Dr. Verna is committed to having state of the art equipment and technology available to all patients. She has a passion for helping children see well and started our Myopia Management Clinic in 2021. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Jason, and their adorable dog Cooper.

A board-certified optician, Jason brings a wealth of experience from multiple industries, but is now focused on eye care and improving the overall patient experience here at Modern Optometry. Outside the office, Jason enjoys competitive bowling and escape rooms. He and his wife (Dr. Verna) are parents to their adorable dog Cooper.

Jannel joined us as an optician in May 2023. She starts her days joining a Prayer Call with her church at 7am ensuring her day starts off powerfully. Jannel also enjoys reading, listening to music, watching Disney movies and spending time with her family. She is also a long time lover of anything Stitch. While working with us, Jannel has developed a new found love for contact lenses. Her favorite quote is "Speak what you seek until you see what you said."

Alexis joined us as an optician in June 2025. She enjoys reading, going to concerts and tattoos. Alexis is also a "Foodie" who enjoys trying new foods from different cultures. Occasionally, she'll speak to her co-workers around the office in her own special language (it makes for a fun time, meow and then!)

Eunice joined us as an optician in August 2025. She enjoys cooking for her family, especially making barbecue chicken. Yum! Eunice also loves spending time with her newborn (Baby PNut) and her daughter by taking her to dance class. She carries a professional and somewhat serious demeanor, but she is super sweet to talk to!

Meet Lynda! With over 25 years of experience as a Certified Optician, Lynda brings a wealth of knowledge and a true passion for the optical field. She loves continuing to learn and takes pride in staying current with the latest advancements and innovations in the industry. When she's not at work, Lynda enjoys spending time with her husband, whether taking a long ride in their convertible or browsing home decor shops in search of unique treasures for their home. Above all, she loves spending time with the grandchildren and creating special memories together.

Katie started with us as a receptionist in May of 2025. When she's not providing excellent service to our patients, she enjoys long naps, fall weather and scary movies. Her favorite scary movies include the Friday the 13th series. Katie is a proud parent to 3 daughters, a cat and a dog. Katie has been a very nice addition to our team, welcoming every patient with a warm smile.
